Last concert

Well done everyone on the organisational front. The overall effect was of a reasonably well-oiled machine, although I think that the approach to jobs needs updating. I think it needs to be simpler, and better-adjusted to people's ability to be present at the times requested. We have plenty of time before the next concert, but perhaps this is a good time to take stock and decide how we will do things in future.

Rehearsals

It was straight back to work this time: we met again on 14th May and will carry on until the July/August break. Last rehearsal is on 9th July.

Here is the coffee rota.

Programme advertisements

The printed concert programme is nice, but it's expensive to produce. We need to find new advertisers willing to pay for a slot in the shiny outer pages. Rates are very reasonable: £40 for a full (A5) page, £30 for a half page, and £20 for a quarter page. If you know of someone you do business with who might be interested in getting a message to the local community (and being seen to support the Orchestra, of course), please ask them. Get back to me with any positive leads: I'm happy to do the detailed negotiations over format, etc.

Chamber music workshop

There are still a few spaces remaining on the SSCMS chamber music workshop on Sunday 31st August.

This workshop will be taking place in the Friends' Meeting House in the centre of Brighton for the first time...all the details can be seen at http://www.sscms.org.uk/html/adults.htm.
